Upgrading a Previous Web Help Desk Installation (same architecture)
Run the Installer
Select Drive Install Location
The installer will always default to C:\Program Files\WebHelpDesk as the installation location, or C:\Program Files (x86)\WebHelpDesk if a 32 bit installer is used on a 64 bit OS. The default location is selected even on upgrades, so when upgrading make sure to select the correct "WebHelpDesk" install directory.
Select Control Icon Install Location
Start the Web Help Desk
Depending on your Windows version, the Web Help Desk may startup automatically after the installer is complete. If that does not happen, go to the control icon install location (default shown above), and select "Start Web Help Desk".
IMPORTANT: Windows 2008+ installations should right-click on the icon and choose "Run as Administrator..."
Connect at http://127.0.0.1:8081 and initialize the database
By default, the Web Help Desk serves web pages on port 8081. Starting the Web Help Desk should launch the default browser pointing to:
- This will autoatically redirect to http://127.0.0.1:8081/helpdesk/WebObjects/Helpdesk.woa
Click "Continue..." to initialize the FrontBase database.
If an alternate database is ready to be initialized, click "Cancel" and configure the new connection.
